 Pastor Sunday Adelaja: “The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want”
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. Psalm 23:1
“Who is my shepherd?” – “The Lord is my shepherd”. The Lord is my shepherd. I have accepted the Lord as the Owner of my life, therefore I shall not be in want.
The word “Lord” means “Owner”, “he, who owns”. Today my question is: Does God own You?
Can You really say before God that He owns You, that everything You have is His? Only if that is true, He takes responsibility for You and becomes Your shepherd. It is not enough to say that You are a believer, but submit all areas of Your life to God.
“My house is Yours, my family is Yours and everything I have belongs to You.” God must see Your heart, that all You say is true.
If the Lord owns You, it means, that God can come any moment and ask for Your belongings. If God is really Your Master and He owns You, it means You are completely depended on Him. That means You understand that everything You have – Your house, Your car, Your children, etc. – is given to You for a temporary use. You are indebted and grateful to Him for Your family, Your job, Your house, Your health and beauty. EVERYTHING IS YOURS, LORD!
Are You ready to release everything and give it to God right away? Are You really not attached to anything? Do not You appropriate anything? When God makes sure that You live this way and submit to Him in all ways, He will become Your Shepherd.
 God takes responsibility for everything You have given to Him. If You admit that Your children are God’s and completely give them to His hands, does He let them be harmed? No! Because these children are His! No one can defend as He can! No one can protect as He can! No one can foresee and plan a destiny as He can! He knows everything and owns everything.
If You really want God to become Your Shepherd, let Him be the Owner of everything, so that He could take control of it. If You want God to be Your Shepherd, let Him be the Master of Your life and the Owner of Your possessions.
God takes responsibility for anyone who considers Him Lord and Master. He will feed, keep and protect such a person. That is why we need retreats with God. When You refuse earthly things for some period of time of communication with God, then you prove that You really belong to Him.
“Lord, I am giving to You everything that You have given to me. My life and my body belong to You, Lord. Take them and use for Your glory. Let everything You have given to me be used in the glory of Yours! Be my Shepherd, for I trust everything I have, as well as myself, to You. In the name of Jesus.”
